From the cold woods of northern
Quebec comes a new force in the Black Metal dimension.
Indeed, SOUL OF DARKNESS has already been reckoned as
one of the best Canadian efforts since the new millennium.
Originally formed as a trio in 1998, the band quickly
gained a solid reputation in its native region of Saguenay,
where acts such as Voivod and NecronomicoN were born.
Influences such as At the Gates, Cannibal Corpse, In
Flames were combined with medieval music to obtain an
attractive dark and melodic result. With the final addition
of Silomen on keyboards two years later, SOUL OF DARKNESS
was then complete with its 4 lord vampires representing
the 4 directions.
Despite their fairly “new” status, SOUL
OF DARKNESS already did remarkable performances alongside
Dark Funeral, Anonymus, NecronomicoN and Overbass among
others, as well as participating twice on the Polliwog
festival. Montreal-based agency B.C. Productions released
the quartet’s first mini-cd entitled “Cry
of the Inner Pain”, under license by Skyscraper
Music. Already highly awaited by reputation, this release
has been getting airplay by many local stations, yet
without starting any promotional campaign.
